What does an assessment involve?
While assessment is tailored to each child, assessments may include the following:
- Clinical Interview. Caregivers meet with the assessor, Dr. Bono, to refine referral questions and provide information about their child
- Collateral Information. When applicable, important adults (e.g., teachers, school counselors, or therapists) may be interviewed and/or complete questionnaires
- Testing sessions. Children may complete a clinical interview, questionnaires, drawing activities, and tests that resemble puzzles, brain-games, or school exams. Caregivers may complete questionnaires on their perception of their child’s functioning
- Feedback session. After completing an assessment, caregivers meet with Dr. Bono to learn about evaluation results and discuss recommendations.
- Deliverables. Evaluation results are delivered in two formats:
- Formal assessment report
- Test results and interpretation
- Psychological diagnoses (when applicable)
- Recommendations that are research-informed and tailored to support your child in school, at home, and in relationships
- May be provided to school or treatment providers
- Therapeutic story or letter customized to the child to provide an age-appropriate explanation of results
